The year

Twelve months, four quarters, two turning days.

The month is the same on both hemispheres. North and south disagree about summer, not about whether it is Deep-Core. The year opens the day after the December solstice. The solstice itself is written as the 32nd of Hope-Rise.

Four quarters. Each one is three months in the rhythm 30, 30, then 31 — 91 days, thirteen weeks. An ordinary year adds one day, the 32nd of Hope-Rise. A leap year also adds a 32nd of Soul-Forge.

Every year. The last day is written as the 32nd of Hope-Rise.

Ninety-one days is thirteen weeks, so the four quarters open on the same weekday. In a leap year the 32nd of Soul-Forge sits between Striving and Impact, and the second half of the year opens one weekday later.

The twelve months are 364 days. The 32nd of Hope-Rise is the day that makes 365, and it falls on the winter solstice. In a leap year the 32nd of Soul-Forge makes 366, so that last day still meets the next winter solstice.

A leap year, here, is a year whose December solstices fall 366 days apart. It is not 29 February. The civil leap day and this extra 32nd do not share a year.
